    I saw them at the Cotton Bowl in '89 as well, and Living Color was also the opening act.

    If you saw them in LA on that tour, GNR was their warmup. That was GNR when they just had Appetite and Lies out, before Use Your Illusion 1 & 2, and before Axl got all prima donna on the rest of the band.
