We've had a relatively long winter, cool spring and only one or two days of 90 degree temps this summer, so far. Today it's cold, 70 degrees or so and raining.
They say it's supposed to be in the mid 80s for the holiday weekend, though. When I was a kid, most summers in Michigan were kind of like this-cool in June and at the end of August, and hot in July and early August. Wearing shorts to school was never an issue because the school year ended before it was hot enough to wear them.

What a difference a few hours make. I worked the garden and flowerbeds at 1 pm quite comfortably. Still less than 90 F out here now at 3 pm.It's not how old you are, it's how you got here.
It's been a long road and not all of it was paved.

Now the fires start. Lightning hit a tree. It's now up to about 2000 acres and 0% containment.
Images like this can be seen from my house. I did not take this picture but it will give you a good idea what it looks like. This was at 5 AM today.
I wonder if Nads has her scanner on?????

Second fire started on the other side of the mountain.
There has not been a fire this bad for a few years, since before I lived here. They have had small fires, but not like this.
The air is really smoky. Breathing difficulties and allergies are increasing.
Today they brought in passenger sized planes to dump water. We had a little rain, but also more lightning. Those evacuated from their homes are set up in shelters.
