Eliot Spitzer to face Manhattan Madam in NYC comptroller race
Posted By Alex Pappas On 10:59 PM 07/07/2013
These debates could get awkward.
Eliot Spitzer, the disgraced former New York governor running for New York City comptroller, is going to have a hard time getting past the prostitution scandal that brought him down five years ago.
In a twist of irony, Kristin Davis, the “Manhattan Madam” who admits she supplied Spitzer with escorts, is running as the libertarian candidate for the office Spitzer announced Sunday night he’s running for.
“Kristin Davis vs Eliot Spitzer for NYC comptroller!” Roger Stone, her political consultant, tweeted Sunday night in celebration of Spitzer’s announcement.
With Stone’s help, Davis — convicted in 2008 of promoting prostitution sent to prison for four months — has enjoyed publicly taunting Spitzer. She ran for governor of New York in 2010, for example, and previously threatened to run against Spitzer in 2009 if he ran for state comptroller.
Davis announced this spring that she’d run for the city’s comptroller position. According to her website, she is running on a platform of “legalization, regulation and taxation” of marijuana in the city. “We sell regulate and tax tobacco and alcohol, both more damaging to public health than pot.”
As for Spitzer, he doesn’t hide the fact that he’s hoping for redemption by attempting to re-enter public life.
“I’m hopeful there will be forgiveness,” the Democrat told The New York Times. “I am asking for it.”

Oh, he's asking for it, all right. And hopefully, the late night comics will give it to him, if they can find a way to parody this that isn't overcome by reality.
First Weiner, then Spitzer and now his madam. Who's next, the Happy Hooker? Could NYC Democratic politics get any more bizarre? Maybe some Port Authority transvestite hookers can run for City Council. I never thought that I'd see the day when Washington DC could claim the moral high ground in local politics, but New Yorkers may have to stop making fun of Marion Barry and the city that reelected him.

Didn't the sleazeball get caught originally by his misuse of government funds and accounts for his whoring? The son of a bitch ought to be permanently disqualified from any position dealing with funds, of course in a shithole like NYC, integrity and reality have nothing to do with anything political.

Wow. If NY isn't the new Sodom...The Obama Administration: Deny. Deflect. Blame.

It's always a tough call when you're asked to choose between a prostitute and a politician. One is a lowlife who will perform any disgusting act for immediate gain, while the other is a prostitute, but all other things being equal, I'd be more inclined to vote for the madam. At least she kept her books straight.

It's a plot worthy of a porno flick.
