Yes, you are correct. This trial was supposedly about "self-defence" yay or nay ... on the surface, and the state hoping the whole time that Zimmerman wouldn't stand a chance of being aquitted ...

However, it really is about the O admin hoping to get a leg up on getting rid of the "Castle Doctrine" altogether.

I skipped those because Polite mentions them in the article. The list is about all the riots he missed.

LOS ANGELES -- Henry Keith Watson remembers April 29, 1992, as if it happened just last week. History won't allow him to forget it.
It was a day that marked the beginning of one of the deadliest, most destructive race riots in the nation's history, and one in which Watson's spur-of-the-moment decision to take part made him one of the enduring faces of the violence [ he was the puke who dropped the concret blcok on Denny;s HEAD]

Nope walks means he's found innocent and he walks out of the court house a free man.

Was this a clear cut self defense situation that fell under Florida's stand your gorund law? Yes.

That and keeping racial tensions in this country as high as they've been since the mid 60's.

"the response will be long-term and focused on ending Stand Your Ground so that this cannot happen again"

So, 'stand your ground' just applies to non-blacks?

In some ways, the calls for order recapitulate what this case is all about—the assumption of violence on the part of the black community, and of black men. No one seems to be concerned about the possible violence of Zimmerman supporters if Zimmerman is convicted...

What? Possible violence (riots) if Zimmerson is convicted? Does this guy live in the Twilight Zone? The comparison is waaaay overstated. But thats the intention, isnt it?

It depends on how Hispanic he is perceived to be by other Hispanics. There could be riots if this becomes a black vs Latino issue. Maybe we should get La Raza involved.
