Where’d the $700 Billion figure come from?

Henry Paulson was nominated by U.S. President George W. Bush to succeed John Snow as the Treasury Secretary on May 30, 2006.

Something else bothers me. I think about the vehemence addressed toward Sarah Palin regarding but not limited to her lack of experience. This particular attack of Mrs. Palin is over a POTENTIAL weakness. I can't help but wonder about a few other positions of concern.
Barney Frank has PROVEN to be incompetent at his committee Chairmanship yet I hear no outrage directed at him.
There are a couple of other key committee Chairmen who are or should be held accountable yet NOTHING from the LIBERAL MEDIA.
Not surprisingly, I have heard some whispers about GW appointing the SEC Treasure. Apparently accountability is only required of Conservatives and Republicans.

I heard the Senate version is up to 850 billion thanks to all the "sweetners" added to buy Senate votes.
