Name of the second Avengers movie is official.

For those who don’t follow the comic book world as closely, a little background is in order. Ultron was a sentient robot who was the creation of a scientist named Dr. Henry Pym — also known as Ant-Man, which means Avengers 2 will likely introduce the hero of Edgar Wright’s upcoming Marvel movie.

Ultron is self-aware and develops a craving for power, according to comics lore. He begins rebuilding himself into more and more powerful iterations and seeks to create artificial life himself in a twisted desire to become a parent — especially important since he eventually wars with his own “father,” Hank Pym.

Interestingly, at the unveiling of this at SDCC, it opened with the showing of Iron Mans mask, Iron Man helmet spins and is scratched, dented, and pulverized. It then spun, turning into Ultron's grinning metal face.

Since Antman has not yet been introduced, and the showing of Iron Mans mask could indicate that Stark will be Ultron's creator, not Hank Pym. Possible some level of an intelligent Iron Man suit gone wrong.

Also, last year when the toy line for the first Avenger's was released, in the lego toy lineup was this.

    That is Ultron's face.

Speaking of upcoming Marvel movies, they also had a Sentinel head on display for the movie "X-Men: Days of Future Past", coming out in 2015....

    Days of Future Past

"Days of Future Past" is a popular storyline in the Marvel Comics comic book The Uncanny X-Men issues #141 and #142, published in 1981. It deals with a dystopian alternative future in which mutants are incarcerated in internment camps. An adult Kate Pryde transfers her mind into her younger self, the present-day Kitty Pryde, who brings the X-Men to prevent a fatal moment in history which triggers anti-mutant hysteria.

The storyline was very popular at the time and was produced during the franchise's rapid rise to popularity due to the writer/artist team of Chris Claremont, John Byrne and Terry Austin. As a result of the storyline's popularity, the dark future seen in the story has been revisited numerous times. The first issue of this storyline was voted the 25th greatest Marvel Comic of all time by the fans in 2001.

This reality in which the story occurs is designated Earth-811 in the Marvel Multiverse.

    Plot:

The storyline alternates between present day, in which the X-Men fight Mystique's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a future timeline caused by the X-Men's failure to prevent the Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly. In this future universe, Sentinels rule the United States, and mutants live in internment camps. The present-day X-Men are forewarned of the possible future by a future version of their teammate Kitty Pryde, whose mind traveled back in time and possessed her younger self to warn the X-Men. She succeeds in her mission and returns to the future, but despite her success, the future timeline still exists as an alternative timeline rather than as the actual future. (The Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe: Alternate Universes 2005 gave the numerical designation of "Days of Future Past" Earth as Earth-811).

Rachel Summers, who was a key player in the original storyline, traveled through time from this alternative future, Earth-811, to the present day and joined the X-Men. Nimrod, the "ultimate Sentinel," followed her to the present and became a foe of the X-Men and the Hellfire Club. Another supervillain, Ahab, later followed her to the present in the Days of Future Present crossover.

    More out now.

We're doing our own version of the origin story for Ultron. In the origin story, there was Hank Pym, so a lot of people assumed that he will be in the mix. He's not. We're basically taking the things from the comics for the movies that we need and can use. A lot of stuff has to fall by the wayside.
It is confirmed that Hank Pym (aka Ant-Man) will not be in this movie.

We're crafting our own version of it where his origin comes more directly from The Avengers we already know about. It's a little bit darker than the other film because Ultron is in the house. There's a science fiction theme that wasn't there in the other one. Ultron is definitely something that evolves, so we're going to get together a couple of different iterations. Nothing can be translated exactly as it was from the comics; particularly Ultron.
Strongest hint is that it will be Stark's intelligent super suit program he was working on in the 3rd Iron-Man movie. Also this is being played up as an origin movie. Not a continuation of the first Avenger's movie.

It's very much a global Avengers film. A lot of the movie has to do with their place not just in America, but the world. Part of the fun for me, definitely this time around, is writing Hawkeye. He did get possessed pretty early by a bad guy and had to walk around all scowly for most of the movie so now it's nice to actually have the character there and see him interact with the other guys.
Hawkeye will be much more involved then before. It will also be more of a global movie, then located primarily in NY.

Also mentioned, talking about Capt. America; Winter Soldier.

whole thing is that this is the biggest bridge of all of Phase 2 movies; it really is. It does involve the most amount of Avengers of any of the films in Phase 2, and it has sort of a, you know, there's a very big shift in the universe at the end of this movie.
So Capt America will set every thing up for Avengers. Which should be very interesting.

First major spoiler, will Jarvis become Ultron in Avengers 2?

Answer is "That's the plan so far from what I've heard. Obvious isn't it?" - Anon. Disney Rep.

There is also the un-used storyboard pics from the first Avengers released a couple days ago.

Another update, and this one is from a few weeks ago.

A Major Character To Get Killed Off In THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON.

    Writer-director Joss Whedon;

I’m always joking about that. Um… maybe? But I’d have to have a really good reason, a really great sequence for [Marvel executives] to go, ‘We’ll cut off a potential franchise, that’s fine!’ They know, as any good studio does, that without some stakes, some real danger, how involved can we get? We don’t just rule it out across the board, but neither is the mission statement ‘Who can we kill?’ We try to build the story organically and go, ‘How hard can we make it on these people?

    More updates.

    MAJOR SPOILER WARNING!!!

Please take the following with some caution. As with all movies, info gets leaked that is not always true. Studios will do this to keep fans off guard.

    Coming from Joblo.

    1. We will see three different versions of Ultron. This is confirmed.

His original state is very rudimentary, but he's constantly upgrading throughout the film. He is coated in Vibranium and spends the film seeking out more of the raw material to continue his 'upgrades.

    Goes on to say;

James Spader playing Ultron will be doing mo-cap for at least one iteration of the character, meaning that Ultron may be much more than "just a helmet" at some point.

Now onto the Avengers Tower & SHIELD.

Tony Stark is indeed bankrolling The Avengers this time out. With the dissolution of S.H.I.E.L.D. in The Winter Soldier and it's subsequent "handover" to Phil Coulson in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Tony Stark takes on the role of global security by housing The Avengers in the former Stark Tower, now Avengers Tower, where he funds new tech, new costumes, and even a new Quinjet.
For fans of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D", after last nights Ep. you will have seen the return of Nick Fury as he is alive again after being killed in The Winter Soldier. So we could see Nick Fury commanding SHIELD from the new Avengers tower.

To continue and tie in "Iron Legion" from Iron Man 3.

Tony Stark/Iron Man has created an army of Iron Man 'drones' and uses them to 'keep the peace.' The Avengers are not in hiding or attempting to keep a low profile. They are very public and 'out' about their intention of keeping the world safe.

    New costumes.

    Black Widow

Black Widow will have 2 batons that have shocking ability as part of her new arsenal.
    Hawkeye

Hawkeye will indeed be rocking the long sleeve jacket that is reminiscent of his comics costume.
Hulk will get stretchy pants that don't rip as he shifts sizes.

    And Vision

Vision will retain the green/yellow color scheme, albeit with the usual Marvel Cinematic upgrade. Much like Ultron, Vision is not expected to make his final, full reveal until the third act of the film.
