3 Men Charged After Joyride on Giant Purple Chicken Statue

    http://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/3...#ixzz2Zw7ZMs00

Three men in north Florida have been charged with the theft of a giant purple chicken statue.

Tyler Lee Jones, 21, Darrin Luke Edwards, 19, and James Joseph Smith, 18, were charged with grand theft, according to jail records.

The Florida Times-Union reports the men took the 9-foot, 600-pound aluminum chicken from a home in Putnam County on Tuesday. They hooked it to a Chevrolet truck and dragged it a mile down the road. The owner of the bird told deputies he saw one of the thieves mount the bird and ride it.

They then unhooked the statue and fled. Detectives located them the next day.

The chicken has been returned to its rightful owner, but suffered a lacerated leg, cracked claw and scarring on its side from the ordeal.

Jones and Smith were released Wednesday on $1004 bond. Edwards is being held without bond for probation violation.

A 9-foot, 600-pound aluminum purple chicken? For crying out loud the thing practically screams "ride me".

The difference between pigs and people is that when they tell you you're cured it isn't a good thing.

Exactly. Not Guilty, because it was a giant purple chicken.

There's just something about big metal chickens that people can't resist. It reminded me of this blog post - the funniest I've ever read, and possibly the funniest ever written.
