Sioux City native, war hero Bud Day dies in Fla.
SIOUX CITY | Retired Air Force Col. George E. “Bud” Day, a Sioux City native who became a war hero and vocal supporter of veterans issues, has died.
The Northwest Florida Daily News reported that Day died Saturday. He was 88.
Day is Sioux City’s only Medal of Honor winner and the nation's most-decorated living service member. He also received the National Order of Vietnam, the Air Force Cross and the Purple Heart.
