MEDIA MATTERS: Limbaugh Is FINISHED: "The Damage Has Been Done"
One week after it was first reported that talk radio giant Cumulus Media might cut ties with Rush Limbaugh and pull his show from 40 of its stations nationwide, the end result of the contractual showdown remains unclear. But we do know this: The damage has been done to Limbaugh and his reputation inside the world of AM radio as an untouchable star.
By opting to publicly negotiate its contract and making it clear the broadcast company is willing to walk away from his program, Cumulus has delivered a once unthinkable blow to Limbaugh's industry prestige. (Cumulus is also threatening to drop Sean Hannity's syndicated radio show.)
Even if Limbaugh wins in the end, he loses. Even if Limbaugh manages to stay on Cumulus' enviable rosters of major market talk stations, Limbaugh comes out of the tussle tarnished and somewhat diminished.
Recall that one year after Limbaugh ignited the most severe crisis of his career by insulting law student Sandra Fluke for three days on the air, attacking her as a "slut," the talker's team announced the host was unhappy with Cumulus. Angry that its CEO had been noting in the press how many advertisers Limbaugh had lost over the Fluke firestorm (losses that continue to accumulate), an anonymous Limbaugh source told Politico the host was so angry he might walk away from Cumulus when his contract expired at the end of the year.

Umm, Dumbasses? There's 2 stations (and that's probably low) that will pick up Rush's show for every one that drops him. The only way Rush and the rest will be leaving the airwaves is when they want to and on their terms.
But please, keep blathering on with your hatred. It's very entertaining to watch you spew your venom.Solve a man's problem with violence and help him for a day. Teach a man how to solve his problems with violence, help him for a lifetime - Belkar Bitterleaf

There isn't a GIF for the bouncy of that article.
Cumulus is dropping them from their 40 stations. Big deal!
Rush is carried on over 600 stations.
Hannity on more then 500.
What they don't mention Premiere a competitor of Cumulus is already stepping up to fill the void in almost all those areas.
And what they also don't mention is that Rush was actually wanting out of the Cumulus deal him self because he didn't like their reaction to what he said.Rest In Peace America

It was, AFAIC, a dumb move by Cumulus, but probably an inevitable one by Clear Channel.
It's yet another in a long string of non-stories about the demise of Rush Limbaugh that has the Left all atwitter but means absolutely nothing.Olde-style, states' rights conservative. Ask if this concept confuses you.

It's the same with Beck. They got all wet in the crotch when it was announced that Fox News wouldn't be renewing his contract but all he does is start his own network. The Obama Administration: Deny. Deflect. Blame.
08-06-2013, 03:14 AMSo what's wrong with Limbaugh moving to WOR-AM? Only the fact that the station's currently a ratings doormat, ranked 25th in that market with less than half the audience of WABC-AM. Yes, it's likely Limbaugh would improve that station's ratings if he moved over there. But at this stage in his career for Limbaugh to have to start over in the most important radio market in the country and do it on such a low-rated station? If you don't think that kind of demotion would sting, you don't understand the oversized egos that fuel talk radio in America.
Not to mention that WOR is owned and operated by Clear Channel Radio...who in turn owns Premiere Radio the people that syndicate Rush.
You don't think that WOR's ad execs have been crying for the bosses for YEARS to bring one of their own to the station and get him off the competition?
The Clear Channel group I worked for exercised their right to bring Rush to a CC station and that so called "ratings doormat" that was our AM station jumped to #1 for talk radio stations in the market.
This is mental masturbation on the part of MM passed off as serious commentary and it's stupid.
Without Rush there is no Media Matters...there's no Fox News...there's no Thom Hartmann Randi Rhodes Mike Malloy etc etc etc.
The DUmmies are too stupid or too intellectually dishonest to admit that without Rush...they wouldn't have a job. He was the rising tide in talk radio that lifted ALL boats. In Memory Of My Friend 1st Sgt. Tim Millsap A Co, 70th Eng. Bn. 3rd Bde 1st AD...K.I.A. 25 April 2005
