Rape of animals isn't a lifestyle choice. Machetes for all dogs to use.

This get's confusing, were they the family dogs they were having sex with or porn star dogs? If they were family dogs would that be an added charge of incest?
One would think. Then again, some gays used to use the term "longtime companion" to describe their significant others, while animal rights advocates use the term "animal companion" to describe pets. Let's just say that these were longtime animal companions and let it go at that.

As for the dogs being mixed breeds, I'm sure that anything resulting from this incident will be even more mixed.

These freaks will likely never be able to get animals from a shelter again, but there are always fools who will sell a puppy or kitty to anyone, plus, free cats are wherever there are strays. Give them 25 years for the sake of the animals.
The complaint didn't say anything about sex with cats. I think that you're thinking of another kind of pussy.

I just figured that anyone who will have sex with a dog will do so with a cat, since they obviously aren't that picky.

Seriously, though, a person who has sex with a dog is looking for a helpless victim. My concern is that people like that will choose helpless people (children, nursing home patients, etc.) to perp on next.

Can you imagine the Command and Staff briefing that followed this?

CUOPS: Good morning, sir. One of your CCIRs was tripped this morning, when a division Soldier was arrested for multiple counts of crimes against nature involving bestiality, disseminating obscene materials and conspiracy.
    CG: What?
CUOPS: Sir, the Soldier and his wife were apparently engaging in sex acts with dogs, filming them and posting the videos on the Internet.
    CG: (Stunned silence)
    Unidentified: Ruh Roh!
    All: (Stifled laughter)
CG: Are you guys putting me on?
CUOPS: No, sir. Here is a copy of the police report.
Unidentified: What's that, Lassie? Timmy did obscene things to you and posted them on the internet?
    All: (Stifled laughter)
CG: Knock it off! This isn't funny.
    CUOPS: No, Sir.
CG: Okay, I get it, but this is still serious. PAO, have you had any media inquiries?
PAO: Yes, Sir. We've been getting dogged all morning.
    All: (Laughter)
PAO: What? ...oh. Sir, I didn't mean...
    CG: I know. Keep going.
PAO: Several media outlets have requested comments. There were a number of questions as to how we became aware of the incident...
Unidentified: They'd have gotten away with it if it weren't for those kids and their dog.
    All: (Laughter)
CG: This is serious. Some troopie screws the pooch... Uh, I mean...
    All: (Hysterical laughter)
Oh, I can imagine what the C&S or CUB meeting for the week must sound like, and I think you nailed that one to a "T." The only icing on that cake would be if the offender was from D company or a unit with something canine in their salutation or slogan, like "Big Dogs."

As for your first point, it's really inevitable; the whole basis of all the gay-sex-Bizarro-World validation is that law shouldn't enforce moral judgments, only rational ones. Rationally, we can kill animals legally and eat them or tan their hides or whatever, which is a pretty bad outcome for the animal; how is having sex with them in ways that don't hurt them or they might even enjoy (And a dog humping anything does seem to be really enjoying himself, you have to admit) even as bad as that, let alone worse? These are the paths a society irrevocably goes down when non-rationally-justified moral judgment is removed from being a legitimate basis for law.

DAT makes the point that if it's a male dog doing the, uh, humping, that it's pretty obviously consensual on his part. The concern is not that these people will choose human victims next, it's that what they are doing is sick, twisted and wrong on its own.

I wonder if anyone in the C&S had the stones to say that the troopie screwed the pooch. My experiences with Bragg were limited to the 1st ESC, but those guys had a pretty rowdy sense of humor. I'm sure that the CUB would have been all kinds of fun.

Exactly. Eventually, anything goes if you eliminate the moral underpinnings of society.
