Hundreds of thousands of New Jerseyans opened the mail last week to find their health insurance plan would no longer exist in 2014 because it does not cover all the essential benefits required by the Affordable Care Act.

The news surprised some who were unaware that provisions in the new law known as “Obamacare” were forcing insurance companies to scrap some plans they had previously offered.

“The Affordable Care Act is driving many changes to products and pricing,” said Thomas Vincz, a spokesman for Horizon. “Horizon BCBSNJ is actively working to help our members find new insurance plans that meet their needs and budget.”

The changes will impact more than 800,000 people in New Jersey who purchase insurance on the individual and small-employer markets, according to Ward Sanders, president of the New Jersey Association of Health Plans.
McGuire reminded seniors looking for a new plan they can call 1-800-MEDICARE for assistance.

Ben Carson just made a big speech about Obamacare comparing it to slavery:

WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — Dr. Ben Carson slammed President Barack Obama’s signature health care during his speech at the Value Voter’s Summit Friday.

“Obamacare is really, I think, the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery,” Carson declared. “It is slavery in a way because it is making all of us subservient to the government.”

Carson said the implementation of the Affordable Care Act was never about health care, only control.

“That’s why when this administration took office it didn’t matter that the country was going off the cliff economically. All forces were directed toward getting this legislation passed,” Carson said.

Carson also made a comparison between Obama’s health care law to former Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin.

“Vladimir Lenin, one of the fathers of socialism and communism, said that socialized medicine is the keystone to the establishment of a socialist state,” Carson stated.

Sens. Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio also spoke Friday at the summit.

Obamacare gets to dictate every insurance company's products, regardless of whether the company participates in the exchange.

Losing one's insurance doesn't mean it won't be replaced with something different. I received a piece of mail a week or two ago stating that my insurance wasn't going to be there at the beginning of 2014 and that I'd have to go on a different plan. I'm going to go along with it.

The problem most people are having is that the replacement is anywhere from 50-300% higher than what they were paying for the same or similar benefits. Let us know if you end up with a better deal.
