What is the mechanism for this proposed ACA income verification?
re: all the talk of adding income verification as part of Senate deal.

What would be the specific, practical method? What would the legislation actually say?

(This is the kind of thing that could be anything from window-dressing to ACA-crippling nightmare depending on the details. Hence the question.)

    1. Think of it as Voter ID except with healthcare: 50 ways to disenfranchise the poor.

They know damn well that the poorest among us have the greatest difficulty proving anything while those with wealth can just ask a slave to do it for them.

It's just one more reason for universal single-payer, if you ask me.

    2. You have to produce paystubs for $0 if unemployed
It's becoming clearer that many leftists think that Obamacare should be handled the same way as voter verification, illegal immigration and the pigford debacle......

Looking like republicans maybe have found a way to sneakily delay Obamcare...
How many have read that proposals to open the government will include income verification for Obama care..

At this time time that would not happen ( as I understand it) income verification would be handled by the IRS when taxes are filed... IF the republicans get there way income verification would happen BEFORE you can sign up.. I heard in radio this morning this would slow sign-ups to a crawl. The number 1 goal for republicans is to make sure they can get to the 2014 mid-term elections without having to hear how great Obamacare is working out.. ANYTHING to slow it down and prevent those stories is there #1 goal..

    2. If the income verification impedes sign-ups, it'll be rejected on sight. nt
The Obama Administrations incompetence in developing a website in order to sign up for Obamacare.........delays??? not problem. Verifying income in order to verify that one is actually eligible for reduced rates........no way...that will delay it....

Income verification is done for welfare-I would imagine that it would be done for subsidized health care the same way. W2 forms, 1040s, pay statements, etc.

A copy of the completed and filed tax return would seem to be the logical way to close the loop, since IRS is the enforcement agency. In fact, a simple authorization for the IRS to cross-check the taxpayer's return against the application should obviate the need for people who filed returns to submit anything at all. Of course, some who want to claim this benefit will not have had the income necessary to have been required to file a tax return (But still may have done so if they were trying to get a refundable credit like EIC or had to for some other entitlement-related reason) but that can be addressed by having them do an informational return and submit it to IRS each year, and making that a requirement for the application.

But that requires identification, and as we know from the states that require ID for voting, minorities cannot get IDs and are intimidated by requests for them. This is clearly a racist tactic to prevent people of color from accessing Obamacare, or would be if it worked.

Before you can do things for people, you must be the kind of man who can get things done. But to get things done, you must love the doing, not the people!
