Boston spent the farm for the series. They won, but don't look for a dynasty. St. Louis is looking to extend one.

Things to watch; a second year manager with absolutely no prior managerial experience takes the Cards to the WS with an amazing number of rookie players and pitchers. I see problems in the Cards lineup, and Wainwright has passed his peak, too. But Carpenter may be back on the mound, and Wacha looks like long term success. Let's see what next year brings.

...and I'm still a loyal Cards fan...

Thanks, Marv, makes me feel better. This has killed me. Someone that I really don't like called and left a message on my voice mail today, taunting me about it. She's from the East Coast. It's tough to beat Midwestern sensibility and politeness. The contrary really hurts.

Still a dyed in the wool Cards fan, always will be. And want so badly to return to St Louis.

There must be something in salt air on the Least Coast and the Left Coast. I'm strictly Missouri Ozark!

BTW, Matheny for Manager of the Year.

Clint Hurdle of the Pirates will win hands down this year. But I must admit that Matheny has turned into an awfully good manager. One issue, which is not necessarily his fault, is continuing to play Pete Kozma at SS. Not because of the errors in game 1, but they guy is simply anemic at the plate.

Furcal getting hurt handcuffed the Cards and put them in this situation. I would have thought the Cards might have picked someone up to solve the problem but didn't.

Picking nits, I know. But SS was a glaring weakness for the Cardinals this year. With all the good young pitching and a solid base of position players (Molina/Holliday/Carpenter), I expect the Cards to continue their run of success.

Agree with you on Kozma. He's terrible. I doubt if they'd get much for him in a trade.

What do you think of Jon Jay? I wasn't dazzled with his play. Problem is I only get to see the post-season play or when I happen to luck into watching a Cub-Card game on WGN. There's absolutely no coverage here. Guess I'm in a foul mood about the way the Cards were slammed in our local rag. It reflects the arrogance of the media and some from the E coast. There are a lot of really super people from the E coast, including SR, but I've sure met a bunch of clunkers down here. I'm accustomed to the good ole Midwestern basic politeness.

John Jay only has good games against the Phillies.
