Rush is talking about this right now, so I "Nadined" the story:
'The Pornography of Meat': School offers course exploring connection between misogyny and meat
A California college has invited a speaker to teach students that eating meat is misogynistic, and that our society degrades fish because "we don't view them as individuals."
The lecture, titled "The Sexual Politics of Meat," will take place at the University of Redlands on Monday, and is to explore the "relationship between patriarchal values and meat eating by interweaving the insights of feminism, vegetarianism, animal defense, and literary theory," according to the official website of the speaker, Carol J. Adams.
We have treated fishes as a mass term ‘fish’ and we don’t view them as individuals.
The lecture will be based on a book she wrote by the same name, which explores "the hidden connections between meat eating and patriarchy, between vegetarianism and feminism."
Harvard University hosted Adams in 2010, and she taught students the "parallels between the consumption of meat and misogyny," and "referred to male bonding in steakhouses or at barbecues as examples of a culture of male-dominant consumption of meat and women," according to an article in the Harvard Crimson, the school's official newspaper.
According to the article, Adams also told students she was upset by the "degradation of fish."
“We have treated fishes as a mass term ‘fish’ and we don’t view them as individuals,” she said.
The article also claims that some of the Harvard students had pressed Adams for statistics to back up her claims, only for her to respond, “I don’t give a damn about statistics."Voted hottest "chick" at CU - My hotness transcends gender

Had to pop over to her web site. Not much claim to fame other then being nutty.
Lets look at a few lines from "About my self"
I’m the author of The Sexual Politics of Meat: A Feminist-Vegetarian Critical Theory. It’s been called “ground-breaking” and “pioneering”(interesting how our description of books draws from our invasive relationship to the land).
Many say it is an underground classic, which I guess means that lots of people know and love it,
Then, right-wing reviewers held it up as the latest example of academic excess and political correctness, which was funny to me, because I am not an academic. I used to teach a course I developed at Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University on “Sexual and Domestic Violence: Theological and Pastoral Issues”
Basically, for as long as I have been an adult, I have been an advocate, an activist, someone trying to figure out how do we transform this d*#! world that is built on inequality.
As an undergraduate, I worked to bring women’s studies courses to the University of Rochester.
I was also involved in protesting the Vietnam War.
I went from college to Yale Divinity School, where my field work was at the New Haven Women’s Liberation Center and in an abortion clinic at Yale Medical School. That is where I was the day Roe v. Wade was announced by the Supreme Court.
I was the Executive Director of the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry, Inc.,Rest In Peace America
