As an auto restorer with a penchant for the unique, Lon Krueger of Scottsdale, Ariz., has experienced a lot of challenges. But one car presented him with the one-of-a-kind challenge he won’t ever likely experience again: the restoration of a stainless-steel 1936 Ford.

It's not how old you are, it's how you got here.
It's been a long road and not all of it was paved.

Ya hadda lead me there didja?

I ran one like this at the Yellow Belly strip in the '60's for the local Mopar dealership. Only race I ever lost was to a same year Pontiac and I won as many as I lost against him. We tore each other down at least once a month ----- but they never looked at our tranny........

I could have been rich. I'm gonna have to check up on old cars I've had over the years:

    '38 Oldsmobile 76 sedan
    '48 Oldsmobile 76 sedan
    '49 Mercury coupe
    '50 Oldsmobile 88 coupe
    '51 Mercury Custom sedan
'56 Pontiac Star Chief Catalina HT
    '56 Thunderbird roadster
    '63 Corvair 700 coupe
    '68 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe
    '70 Corvette Roadster

The rest would be too new or too pedestrian.

What color was yours. Mine was "pea" green. After I dechromed it, lowered it, and put on some pipes, I gray primed it.

Dark blue with a silver top.

Forgot about the torture racks - 1960 Corvair wo/AC which I drove across NM in early June '65 and a 60 ford stick 6 ex-cop car.

This would have been a winner - but Stude did actually produce a similar vehicle 6 years earlier.
