    As Mr, ABC would say ...
    Pure "schmaltz" coming up, but feel like posting it anyway!

    Found myself singing the song "Trees" this morning while outside looking at all the fallen leaves. Came in, read articles linked from the Drudge Report, turned off the computer, and wrote this.

    ========================
    I think that I shall never see
    A country half as good as thee.

    A land whose hungry mouth was pressed
    Against our Lord's sweet flowing breast;

    A land that looked at God all day,
    And lifted joyful arms to pray;

    Now all of that has gone away
    And we must face another day.

    Please God we need thee back again;
    We can no longer bear the pain.

    Poems are made by fools like me ...
    But only YOU can set us free.
    ===========================

    Outta here! :DDsmilie_panic:

    I thought JOyce Kilmer fell off her side of the mountain, ended up in a wheelchair, and made strides for the accommodation of handicapped students in colleges. I was an usher, I watched that movie ten times.

    Mercy!

    Just found out Joyce Kilmer the author, was a man named Alfred Joyce Kilmer. Knew nothing about him, only the well-known words to the poem.

    Nova ... To which movie are you referring? The title?

    Rats! Hubby just came home from golf, and I must now "tend to my knitting" as the old saying stated! My morning sure went fast today!

    I just now remembered. It was Jill Kinmont and the movie was The Other Side Of The Mountain.

    Thanks Elspeth ...

    Was rather personal and should not have posted it.

    Just got through reading some of the revolting news on Drudge and was rattling off what was going through my mind at the time.

    Have since tweaked it a bit here and there, more to my liking ... but will keep it to myself.
