Tex, congrats for working hard on this. And yes, McAuliffe is an incredible douchebag.

At some point, I don't think very soon though, the conflicting imperatives of the Dems are going to catch up with them - on one hand, they want a 'Social state' on the Western European model, including the ACA but also SS and most other benefits, which require expanding and employed youth populations, income, and economies to fund them. On the other hand, their policies toward commerce, taxation, environment, and population control (Including abortion and 'Free' birth control), combined with their reliance on dependency to buy votes, all work to ensure there will NOT be an expanding, prosperous young population to provide that revenue.

It's a conundrum. Crisis in inevitable, but at least not imminent, and it will be pretty damned ugly when it does come. One thing is certain: If Obama's still around then, he'll proclaim it was all Bush's fault.

There's no contradiction. Citizen's United established (or actually, reestablished) that people who join corporations don't waive their First Amendment rights when they do so. There is nothing wrong with pooling money to try to get a message out. The problem is that McAuliffe, being a corrupt lowlife who lives only for fundraising, threw together an extremely well-financed, but dishonest campaign, while the better man was abandoned by his party. Cuccinelli didn't call women murderers or gays child molesters, but he did argue that the State's sodomy laws were Constitutional. Sorry if that offends you, but it's not exactly the same thing. Not that it matters, since with McAuliffe as governor, Virginians are going to be reamed in so many new ways that the sodomy issue will seem quaint before long.

Again, Nova is only concerned about one thing. He doesn't care that McAuliffe is going to try to impose gun control, raise taxes, increase state spending, destroy the infrastructure, corrupt everything that he touches and turn Virginia into Illinois, or that he has absolutely no governing experience, and sees it as a patronage machine from which he can campaign for Hillary in 2016, he only cares that Cuccinelli isn't on board the rainbow-flagged bandwagon. For Nova and other gay activists, good governance begins and ends below the waistline.

IIRC I read back during the summer that we've already reached the tipping point where the replacement births in the U.S. isn't keeping pace with the deaths as far as the population is concerned.

Given some of the things McAuliffe said during the campaign...his politics/governance seems to be centered in the same area as well.

The rest of your rant was just boilerplate silliness but that has some merit.

Not sure on that, but Russia and Japan have been in that boat for awhile. It takes quite a long time from that point until the crunch, though the process is inevitable if the demographic balance doesn't shift back to a pre-'Me Generation' dynamic.

We reached that point with native population around 2000. Immigrants are making up for it by having more babies so we are above replacement rates (barely).

Sometimes, that works at the state level. In the 2010 governor's primaries in Michigan, lots of democratic voters who didn't like either candidate their party was offering crossed over and voted for Snyder. Enough of them voted for him in the fall that he won substantially, something that neither of his very conservative primary opponents could have done. Snyder has proven himself to be more conservative than he ran as, though.

The population density there rivals some parts of Los Angeles.

Most of Virginia is very rural save the DC burbs, Norfolk region, Richmond and Roanoke. That's how Obama won this state. We are now a Blue state.

Only saving grace last night is that Cucc kept it closer than predicted losing by less than 3 points, and the GOP party bosses can't point and say "see, we need to run a 'moderate' next time".
Actually, there are bluer areas in Northern NJ than in the South. The population is denser in the north. The South is filled with limousine type liberals(Haddon Twp, Cherry Hill, etc) while the rest of the area has urban areas like Camden. North you really have limousine liberals in places like Bergen County but you have high concentrations of ethnic voters like Jersey City, Neward, Patterson, Trenton, etc. Not to mention that the largest employer in NJ is the state. Hell, where I live the prison is the largest employer. There are enclaves of conservatives but not nearly enough. But you are spot on when you say Jersey rivals Cali. I think NJ is bluer than Massachusetts.
The Obama Administration: Deny. Deflect. Blame.
