...and they did it in two weeks in their spare time! And it didn't cost $300 million dollars.

    (snip)

With a few late nights, Ning Liang, George Kalogeropoulos and Michael Wasser built "thehealthsherpa.com," a two-week-old website that solves one of the biggest problems with the government's site.

    (snip)

"They got it completely backwards in terms of what people want up front," said Liang. He added: "They want prices and benefits, so that they could make the decision."

Liang showed CBS News how it worked. "You come to our website and you put in your zip code -- in this case a California zip code. You hit 'find plans,' and you immediately see the exchange plans that are available for that zip code."

They have plenty of experience working at places like Twitter and Microsoft before setting out to build their own Internet companies. But this project is a public service.

As Ning Liang showed CBS News correspondent John Blackstone how HealthSherpa worked on a computer screen, a person enters their area code and then will see the exchange plans available for that zip code.

"There was no thought of, 'How do we make money this time?'" said Wasser. "It was like, 'This is a problem that we know we can solve in a really short period of time. So let's just do it.'"

    (snip)

CBS News looked at the team's website Thursday and pointed out that the tax subsidy wasn't in there, which is supposed to be one of the most complicated parts of the HealthCare.gov site. But as Liang explained: "Yes, we added this last night...the subsidy calculation is fairly complicated, but it wasn't too bad."

You can't actually enroll on the HealthSherpa site, but they do provide contact information for companies offering the plans. Users who find a plan they like can go directly to the insurance companies without ever using HealthCare.gov.

Maybe somebody should tell Obummer, and then hire these guys.......

I tried it last night, and despite the "sticker shock", the damned thing REALLY works, even for Barry County in southwest Missouri!

We can't have anything like this kind of efficiency in anything the government does.
Just think of the precedent it would set.

And how do you kick back 3 or 4 million to whoever's campaign fund if you are not getting 300 million dollar contracts to begin with?

These 3 should expect a combined IRS, DHS and NSA proctology exam in their near future. Lord knows they have earned and deserve it.

The key is that these guys put the quotes and costs up front. The goal of the government was to hide all these costs until they got every bit of your information and you were stuck in the system.

We could say they are spending like drunken sailors. That would be unfair to drunken sailors, they're spending their OWN money.

Only $20K a year to replace Medicare for the 2 of us.....

That's assuming they didn't decide to exempt us from coverage.

Here's something else that was done quicker than the Obamacare website:

    “Putting things in perspective:

    March 21st 2010 to October 1 2013 is 3 years, 6 months, 10 days.

    December 7, 1941 to May 8, 1945 is 3 years, 5 months, 1 day.

What this means is that in the time we were attacked at Pearl Harbor to the day Germany surrendered is not enough time for this progressive federal government to build a working webpage. Mobilization of millions, building tens of thousands of tanks, planes, jeeps, subs, cruisers, destroyers, torpedoes, millions upon millions of guns, bombs, ammo, etc. Turning the tide in North Africa, Invading Italy, D-Day, Battle of the Bulge, Race to Berlin – all while we were also fighting the Japanese in the Pacific!! And in that amount of time – this administration can’t build a working webpage.”

I paraphrased it, and put this in our local weekly...

    SPEAKING OUT

    Putting things in perspective:

    December 7, 1941 to May 8, 1945 is 3 years, 5 months, 1 day.

We mobilized millions, built tens of thousands of tanks, planes, ships, millions of guns, bombs, etc. In Africa and Europe; Libya, Tripoli, Sicily, Italy, D-Day, Battle of the Bulge, Remagen, the river Oder. In the Pacific; Coral Sea, Midway, Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Kwajalein, Guam, Tinian, Leyte Gulf, Iwo Jima. All the while we supplied allies with food and munitions. We won!

    March 21, 2010 to October 1, 2013 is 3 years, 6 months, 10 days.

In the same amount of time, this administration can’t build a working webpage.
