Earlier in the week, the WSJ had estimated 50K. It's less than that. Only 27K signed up through the Obamacare website and this figure includes people who did not complete the process but had a plan in their "shopping carts." The 100K (total) figure comes from state websites, with California leading the way. Remember that 4.8 million people have lost their insurance in the same time period.

The “official” numbers have been released by HHS:

Some 106,185 people signed up for Obamacare in its first month of operation, a period marred by major technological problems with both the federal and state enrollment websites.

Fewer than 27,000 Americans selected an insurance plan through the federal healthcare.gov site, which is handling enrollment for 36 states, according to figures released Wednesday by the Obama administration. The site is still far from fully operational, leaving tech experts racing to get it working by month’s end, as the administration promised.

Nearly 79,400 people signed up for coverage through state-based exchanges, with California leading the way with nearly 35,400 selecting a plan. States have also been battling system errors, with Oregon having yet to accept online applications.

These figures reflect people who have selected insurance plans through the exchanges, but not necessarily paid for them. Americans have until Dec. 15 to pay if they want coverage to begin on Jan. 1. Open enrollment lasts through March 31.

In addition to the sign-ups, nearly 975,500 people have submitted applications and learned whether they are eligible for subsidies, but have not yet selected a plan.

Separately, another 396,261 Americans have been determined eligible for Medicaid or Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

The long-awaited initial figures are a far cry from the 7 million people the Congressional Budget Office projected would gain coverage through the exchanges in 2014. The administration has said it expects 800,000 people to pick a plan by the end of November.

Harry Reid Forced To Call Special Meeting With Senate Dems Over Obamacare Implosion…

    Reid calls special ObamaCare meeting

    http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/1...macare-meeting

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Thursday will convene a special meeting of the Senate Democratic caucus and senior White Officials to discuss the troubled rollout of ObamaCare.

Reid on Wednesday told reporters he would not answer questions about the hundreds of thousands of insurance policy cancellations or other issues until he has further discussions with the White House.

The Senate leader said President Obama called him Tuesday evening to discuss healthcare and other issues.

Several Democrats have signed onto a proposal sponsored by Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) that would force insurance companies to let people keep their health plans if they like them.

Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) said he would have a better idea of what proposals Democrats will push to improve the new law after the Thursday meeting.

Republicans could scarcely contain their glee over the growing Democratic anxiety.

"Obviously panic has set in on the other side," Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said.

I heard talking heads on Fox all week talking about five million losing insurance so far and only about 50,000 (Estimated) having signed up, who then proceeded to say 'That's ten to one!" Obviously one of them is a Democrat, all of whom are notoriously inept at math, and the rest must have taken his calculation at face value.

5 million vs. 50,000 is ONE HUNDRED to one, NOT ten to one.

I did not lose my coverage at work. Due to insurance being mandatory and the increased cost of covering family members up to 26 years of age my part of the premium is going to skyrocket to keep any thing similar to what I had. Yes, my old plan is gone.....it's no longer available. My new plan will now cover paps, mamos, birth control, mental health and substance abuse. I almost forgot Acupuncture! Even the lowest costs plans cover those items first, those items that I do not need.

If I want to have any type of health insurance that allows me to even to afford to see a doctor on a regular basis or spend a couple days in the hospital I am looking at a 200% increase in premiums.

And this is the story NOT being covered by the media. What Obamacare does is take good insurance and turn it into "junk" plans. You have to take everything this administration says and read it backwards. The "Affordable" care Act is really the Unaffordable Care Act, and "junk" plans are what they are offering, not what they are replacing.

Only 106,185 have signed up for Obamacare so far. The XFL drew a total of 936,392 fans. Can Obamacare outperform the XFL?
