    Pelosi starts giggling during presser
    (snip)

    Whoa.
Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi started giggling uncontrollably today when speaking about the temporary one-year fix to O-Care. Barack Obama announced earlier that he would allow his peoples to keep their insurance plans for one year until the elections are over in 2014.
Pelosi was so excited about this she started giggling.
    Weird.

Not so sure this can be fixed administratively, every one of those insurance companies also has to answer to State insurance commissions and auditors, who may not accept the Oministration's simple declination to enforce statutory law as quite the same thing as compliance with it.

Not only can't it be fixed administratively, but it will make it worse. Obama's proclamation does not have any legal authority behind it, since only congress can amend the law, so the whole thing is a sham, but several states have refused to comply with it anyway, and the insurers are freaking out because they now have to cancel their cancellations. He's thrown the entire healthcare system into chaos.

Before you can do things for people, you must be the kind of man who can get things done. But to get things done, you must love the doing, not the people!

Apparently the requires the termination of 'Grandfathered' policies the have 'Major changes,' and then the HHS regulations defined 'Major changes' as any alteration no matter how trivial. There is a small technical window for an administrative fix but it would legally require an actual regulatory change with puclication, notice, public comment, and a final rule, all of which would eat up so much of 2014 (Especially given the torpid HHS bureaucracy) before it went into effect, only to be very shortly superseded by the 2014 deadline.
