AKA Panda. It's 2:30 am and we just got back from the vet. Congestive heart failure that went from diagnosis to passing in 12 days.
Doc tried her best and brought her back from the other side long enough to get my hopes up but I saw goodbye in her eyes.
It's not how old you are, it's how you got here.
It's been a long road and not all of it was paved.
Live every day as if it were your last, because one of these days, it will be.

Retread, so sorry to hear of your loss. Wow, that was fast, such a shock for you. I lost one of my greyhounds to it. You're in our thoughts.

Then there is the coincidence factor. The older dog, Boo, has just been on medication for the same thing for less than 60 days. BTW, she's doing great. More active and better appetite than the last 2 years.

Thanks for the words. I knew I would get understanding here.

How old was Panda? You're right, you never really know. My little black greyhound, Tiny, had heart problems since she was 7 years old. With medication she lived til 13. That's pushing it for a greyhound.

A friend had a Cavalier King Charles spaniel. Her poor little dog suffered so much from congestive heart failure. The dog was forever going to the vet to be put in an oxygen tent. It dragged on for several years. The inevitable occurred.

Glad to hear that Boo is doing so well. And you're right, we do understand here.

Panda was 1 week older than my G'son, probably the only way I would remember as bad as I am with birthdays. She was 8 in April.

Thanks for the offer Rock but it's gonna take Mamma several weeks to get over this hump. Just glad Boo is there for her. A Lab is a little large for us anyway. We're more the small lap dog types. Not that I wouldn't have a good ol' Okie mutt farm dog but our current lifestyle would probably bore him to tears.
