    Statically: Murder-suicide via separate weapons is very rare and most supposed murder-suicides by separate weapons have been found to be double murders.

    That's part. Virginia has a big problem of lack of mental health facilities. Like many states, we let the jail/prison system deal with the mentally ill. Apparently Deeds situation highlights some of the problems. Meds can't always cure you and sometimes they make things worse.
