I think that Pakistan is a fairweather friend in the war on terror. The government is willing to provide basic support (basing for US personnel into Afghanistan), but when it comes to allowing the United States to conduct operations within their borders to take out insurgents, they are too worried about political consequences to allow such an action.

The fact that we're on good terms with India probably doesn't help things very much. Shouldn't you be posting something about how we should end our support for India because they are abusive towards the poor destitute Pakistanis?

Nah - I want the bastards to go to thermo-nuclear war with the Pakistanis, this afternoon. Get it the Hell over with and make for some pretty sunsets on Catalina.

You've got it...It's a vicious cycle when you try to play both sides and "hedge" bets against two rivals. I'm not sure we've learned from this mistake though. We keep making it.
