I don't like the precedent his lawsuit set, for "back-up justice", but in the case of the Goldmans (not the Browns, they are a different matter, having ridden the OJ gravytrain for years), I really don't think they would have sued had OJ gotten convicted in the murder and sent to prison back then.

The story being told on LA talk radio this morning is that O.J. had the audacity to have a post-trial victory party planned and in place - thinking this was going to be a slam-dunk case. (Must have been inspired by Rumsfeld). At Coretta Scott King's funeral in early 2006, Ethel Kennedy, the widow of Robert Kennedy, leaned over to him and whispered, "The torch is being passed to you." "A chill went up my spine," Obama told an aide. (Newsweek)
10-08-2008, 11:16 AMSimpson associate Thomas Riccio, after an in-studio interview Friday with radio talk-show host Anthony Crivello and retired Las Vegas police detective Phil Ramos, invited them to join O.J.'s entourage at an undisclosed location.
"That's how certain he was," Crivello said during an interview on Saturday, a day after Simpson and co-defendant Clarence "C.J." Stewart were found guilty on all counts, including armed robbery and kidnapping with a deadly weapon.
"He's been predicting a hung jury," said Ramos, who attended the trial and provided expert commentary on Crivello's show, "The Sicilians" on Fox Sports Radio KBAD-AM, 920.
