    So maybe a cheaper non-stick but more of an investment in traditional pans without the coating?

    Yes. Sounds like this is what Rock does as well.

    I have some friends that love cast iron but they are too darn heavy!

    Enamel coated cast are very nice for some uses but expensive.

    Those look great. I like the clear lids. Oven safe is a nice bonus even if you don't have plans of using them in the oven, it simply means they are built to withstand the heat.
