Phillies pitchers and catchers report today so the 2014 baseball season is officially underway.

First Grapefruit League game is Wednesday February 26th.

The Phillies will trounce the Rangers in the World Series this year 4-0. They'll win 12-0, 9-0, 14-0 and 22-1. Holy smokes, you're saying to yourself right now, how did the Rangers score 1? Well, the Phillies brought in a monkey to mop up the 9th in game 4 and before anyone could notice he intentionally plunked four Rangers in a row, giving them their run, before being yanked.

It's going to be a great year.

We waited too long to get spring training tickets. There are so many tourists coming to Florida this year to escape the bad weather up north that the tickets were snapped up.

We went to Ft Myers a few weeks ago and managed to get some tickets to the STL Cardinals/Mn Twins game in early March. There are 2 stadiums in Ft Myers--the Boston Red Sox and the Minnesota Twins. Every ticket for the Cards, Red Sox game were gone.

We still need to stop by and see if there are any tickets left for the Baltimore Orioles, who play in Sarasota.

Unless the Phils buy tickets they aren't going to sniff the playoff or a winning record for that matter. They made zero moves this off season save from signing an aging Marlon Byrd and the recently signed AJ Burnett. Here's how the lineup is going to look this season:

1B-Ryan Howard(injury prone, can't hit left handers with a cricket bat)
    2B-Chase Utley(injury prone)
SS-Jimmy Rollins(leadoff hitter who can't hit over .250 and who's SB numbers are half of what they used to be. Oh, and he's injury prone(see a trend here?))
3B-Cody Asche(Jury still out on him as he's going to be playing in his first full season)
LF-Dom Brown(He needs to duplicate last season when he became an all star for the first time)
CF-Ben Revere(calling him a light hitter is an understatement)
RF-Marlon Byrd(former PED user who's best days are behind him)
C-Carlos Ruiz(Chooch wasn't the same after serving his suspension for taking Adderall)

    Starting Pitching:

Cole Hamels-starting the season on the DL...of course after he got his contract extension
AJ Burnett-Decent pitcher. We'll see if he has anything in the tank.
Cliff Lee-We'll see what Cliff has left.
Roberto Hernandez-This guy doesn't even know what his name is considering he pitched for 6 seasons under the name Fausto Carmona.
Kyle Kendrick-Showed flashes last season but he's a #4 pitcher at best.

    Bullpen:

Antonio Bastardo-Another PED user which is funny because it didn't work. They don't call him Blowstardo for nothing.
Mike Adams-Another who's best years are long behind him.
Justin De Fratus-They don't call him DeFailus for nothing.
Jake Diekman-Decent enough and probably the best bullpen guy they have. Doesn't say much.
    Joe Savery-Showed promise. We'll see.
Jonathan Papelbon-Don't call him Papelblow for nothing. 7 blown saves last year.

There you have it. No improvement on a team that went 73-89 last year. The only thing we have to look forward to is Mike Trout coming in for 2 games this season.

The Phils are about to open the 2014 season by putting a beating on the Blue Jays today and lo and behold what do I find out?...

Turns out it looks like the Phils will start the regular season 3-0 as they open the regular season with a three game set at those same Rangers they are gonna pummel in the WS. What a way to start (and end) the season. woot.

Playoffs? You're talking about playoffs? I'm wondering if this team can win 80 games and you're talking playoffs?
