Former Phillies manager Jim Fregosi died today from complication from a stroke he had the other day. He was 71. He skippered the Phils to that unlikely pennant with a team full of castoffs and scrubs in 1993. I mean this team won with guys like Pete Incaviglia, Mickey Morandini, Jim Eisenriech who has Turretts Syndrome, and a pitching staff that had Curt Shilling, Terry Mulholland, Tommy Greene, Danny Jackson, and Ben Rivera. Unfortunately they couldn't win the series but they lost to better team and lost the highest scoring game in World Series history in game 4 losing 15-14. What a zany year but that team drew 3 million fans at the Vet that season. We'll miss you Skipper!
