My Father-In-Law gave us a bunch of Venison. Steaks, sausage, ground venison... We usually cook it on the grill but I want to try something different so if anyone has any good recipes please post em here. It doesn't have to be crockpot but I think that might be fun. Ideas?Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.

When my dad hunted, we used venison in thin sliced cutlets, breaded, fried and served Milanese style with a crunchy green salad.
I didn't care for venison in general in that I don't like the gamey taste.

It is best mixed with hamburger and works well for meatloaf's depending on your recipe. it varies greatly in gaminess depending on sex of animal, time of year and care in handling so there is no one size fits all cooking solution.
Another issue is leanness, deer has absolutely zero marbling so it needs to be cooked with pork fat, beef fat or coconut mixed with olive oil.
The fat on the exterior of deer cuts should be discarded due to its high melt point it is unhealthy in your bloodstream, it is like paraffin wax.
If used properly venison is good meat, I use 4 to 7 deer a year and have for many years.
Pound cutlets with fajita seasoning or marinate with Italian dressing and fry with biscuit mix breading. The difference between pigs and people is that when they tell you you're cured it isn't a good thing.
