    Giving anything up fellow Catholics?

I'm giving up all meat (fish will be allowed). This will be difficult as I'm going on two vacations during Lent this year...so I will have to choose the fish option for all meals.

I'll be on a cruise for Easter break so I can have meat on the last two days of the cruise.

    Wish me luck!

    Anyone else sacrificing for God?

It would be very difficult to be on vacation and avoid meat, especially on a cruise!

Have fun on vacation and good luck with Lent.

Should have took your vacation in the BWI Turks and Caicos. Ain't nothing but seafood, mostly conch as it is farmed locally.
It's not how old you are, it's how you got here.
It's been a long road and not all of it was paved.
Live every day as if it were your last, because one of these days, it will be.

Since completely changing and limiting my diet a couple of years ago for health reasons, I am in Lent ALL THE TIME and am NOT giving up anything more.

I was challenged once by a minister to try something new for lent. I joined the Community Center and started swimming, and lost 60 lbs or so.

I'm ashamed. They say confession is good for the soul. I didn't last a day. I went to a work conference today and they had no selection but cold cuts and the roast beef was rare, just the way I like it.

    I have no self restraint.

The question now is, do I forgive myself and start over or do I say "screw it"

Good for you, Hawk. I'm an atheist though I was raised a Missouri Synod Lutheran - close enough to the Catholic Church.

I admire anyone who professes and follows a faith, and doesn't hide it.
