    I agree, that is a bit much for a fourth grader, and so did the the administartion. I am not quite sure how you think that indicts the entire concept of Common core. Do you think similar mistakes were ever made prior to common core?

    "YISD administration is aware of an unacceptable assignment that was given to a fourth-grade class at Pasodale Elementary,” the statement said. “We apologize to the students and the parents who received this assignment,” the statement said. “Campus administration has addressed the issue with the teacher, and has taken decisive measures to assure that future assignments are aligned to the curriculum and are of the highest instructional caliber.”

    This is a link to an article with excerpts from a political survey given to 6th graders. Besides totally distorting conservative positions, it is completely unfair to expect 12-year olds to label themselves politically, and is even more outrageous to expect them to assess their parents' political opinions. I would paste the excerpts themselves, but I'm not sure how.

    there are many, many other criticisms out there. I just don't have time to list them all.

    Regarding the Second Amendment, the authors of the book state:
    This amendment states that people have the right to certain weapons, providing that they register them and they have not been in prison. The founding fathers included this amendment to prevent the United States from acting like the British who had tried to take weapons away from the colonists.

    Common Core is being used to lie to children to indoctrinate into leftist beliefs.

    Here is a common core language arts problem;

    Find the pronoun in the following sentence;

    “Rich people are too callous and greedy to realize they are destroying the middle class.”

    Keep in mind, this is part of a middle schools math session;

    A math lesson for middle schoolers requires a math teacher to “engage students in a class discussion about whether or not they feel the results of” the 2000 presidential election were “‘fair.’”

    In another "MATH" lesson, the discussion of presidents, the kids are referred to the website infoplease.com.
    Any math student who surfs over to the Infoplease.com biography of Ronald Reagan is in for a treat. The page duly explains that Reagan’s “‘supply side’ economic program” of “tax cuts and sharp reductions in government spending” led to “the worst recession in 40 years” and a “constantly growing budget deficit.” The roaring economy and the huge plunge in both inflation and unemployment that ensued rate nary a mention.

    Obama isn't the problem. The problem is an electorate that would vote a man like him into office.

    There are real problems with the way it is taught and the premise that the PROCESS of getting an answer for a math problem is MORE important than getting the right answer. Those are real problems, but the goal of common core is to indoctrinate kids to the leftist way of thinking and behaving.

    It is simply a sneaky way of going behind parents backs to teach them about sexuality, climate change and other leftist ideas that they know conservatives don't approve of being taught to their kids. Every time something like this comes up the school is sooooooo apologetic, "it'll never happen again", "it was just an uninformed teacher", "it was just a one time thing", blah blah blah. No. It's deliberate and when they get caught they deflect and claim that it isn't Common Core, it's just someone who has done something wrong. And when they can't do that or decide to "fight" they tell conservative parents that there is something wrong with them if they don't think their child should be reading porn like novels and the like.

    These kinds of issues are ALL over Common Core and it's too much to think that they are just "mistakes" or "coincidences". Common Core is propaganda to indoctrinate children dressed up as "math", "science", and "logic". It is all about stripping conservative and Christian morality out of the schools and out of kids. It is immoral liberals simply taking it to the "next step".

    if you just want the right answer get a calculator. When I was in school we always had to show our work, when something new comes up like common core showing your work is a commie plot. The only place I can find this so called mindwashing is in the right wing noise machine. I really wonder who is being brainwashed. Actually I quite wondering long ago.

    Kind of reminiscent of something I read a long time ago in the autobiography of a Waffen SS officer, who described a change in the tenor of his little brother's math problems in the years after the Nazis took over...he gave an example of a normal rate/time/distance problem from his brother's text, but instead of 'The train leaves the Regensburg station at a quarter past eight, going to Nuremburg...,' the sort of problems he remembered from his own school days, the problems had become more along the lines of 'A Luftwaffe dive bomber takes off from the Reich Homeland with 500 Kg of bombs at 0815, destined for the decadent Polish city of..."
