Labor group calls on McCain to denounce supporters

Crowds at Republican rallies have reportedly shouted "terrorist" and "kill him” when it comes to the Illinois Democrat.

The AFL-CIO said Friday afternoon the GOP presidential ticket should object to the heated rhetoric Republican supporters have been using in attacks on rival nominee Sen. Barack Obama.

Crowds at Republican rallies have reportedly shouted "terrorist" and "kill him” when it comes to the Illinois Democrat.

John Sweeney, president of the labor group, which has endorsed Obama, referenced those reports, adding that Republican nominee Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) and running mate Sarah Palin "have a fundamental, moral responsibility to denounce the violent rhetoric."

"John McCain, Sarah Palin and Republican leaders are walking a very thin line in pretending not to hear the hateful invectives spewed at their rallies," Sweeney said. "McCain should end this line of attack in the strongest possible terms. Anything less puts McCain in the same camp as the racists and extremists who are bringing their angry rhetoric to his campaign events. "

The AFL-CIO has long been a supporter of Democratic candidates.

Obama, at a campaign stop in Ohio Friday, accused McCain of using fear tactics to try and distract voters from the ongoing financial crisis, a crisis that has led to significant polling leads for Obama in recent days.

"Nothing’s easier than riling up a crowd by stoking anger and division," Obama said, according to reports.

But the McCain campaign fired back that Obama is only insulting McCain supporters and trying to change the subject away from the GOP's recently focused campaign of drawing attention to Obama's past association with 1960s domestic terrorist William Ayers.

“Barack Obama’s attacks on Americans who support John McCain reveal far more about him than they do about John McCain," McCain spokesman Brian Rogers said in a statement. "It is clear that Barack Obama just doesn’t understand regular people and the issues they care about. He dismisses hardworking middle-class Americans as clinging to guns and religion, while at the same time attacking average Americans at McCain rallies who are angry at Washington, Wall Street and the status quo.

Rogers said that Obama is attacking “anyone who dares to question his readiness to serve as their commander in chief in chief."

Angry anti-Obama taunts grip McCain, Palin events

"Lots Of People Hate The Magic One,you betcha !"

LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) — Some of the anger is getting raw at Republican rallies and John McCain is mostly letting it flare. A sense of grievance spilling into rage has gripped some GOP events as McCain supporters see his presidential campaign lag against Barack Obama. They're making it personal, against the Democrat. Shouts of "traitor," "terrorist," "treason," "liar," and even "off with his head" have rung from the crowd at McCain and Sarah Palin rallies, and gone unchallenged by them.

Presidential candidates are accustomed to raucous rallies this close to Election Day and welcome the enthusiasm. But they are also traditionally monitors of sorts from the stage. Part of their job is to leaven proceedings if tempers run ragged and to rein in an out-of-bounds comment from the crowd.

Not so much this week, at GOP rallies in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Florida and other states.

When a visibly angry McCain supporter in Waukesha, Wis., on Thursday told the candidate "I'm really mad" because of "socialists taking over the country," McCain stoked the sentiment. "I think I got the message," he said. "The gentleman is right." He went on to talk about Democrats in control of Congress.

The anti-Obama taunts and jeers are noticeably louder when McCain appears with Palin, a big draw for GOP social conservatives. She accused Obama this week of "palling around with terrorists" because of his past, loose association with a 1960s radical. If less directly, McCain, too, has sought to exploit Obama's Chicago neighborhood ties to William Ayers, while trying simultaneously to steer voters' attention to his plans for the financial crisis.

The Alaska governor did not campaign with McCain on Friday, and his rally in La Crosse was much more subdued than those earlier in the week when the two campaigned together. Still, one woman shouted "traitor" when McCain told voters Obama would raise their taxes.

Volunteers worked up chants from the crowd of "U.S.A." and "John McCain, John McCain," in an apparent attempt to drown out boos and other displays of negative energy.

Palin, at a fundraiser in Ohio on Friday, told supporters "it's not negative and it's not mean-spirited" to scrutinize Obama's iffy associations.

Why the RAGE? The media has systematically stifled FAIRNESS is UNPRECEDENTED this election.

Why the increasing rage at McCain rallys? Obama is emmersed in a dozen scandals..he has a dozen dark and dangerous associations...
    he has no verifiable CITIZENSHIP....
he enjoys untraceable, anonymous donations in the MILLIONS...
he sports a spotty, erractic and suspicious idealogy.
And he is agonizingly PROTECTED by the propagandist MEDIA MACHINE 24/7. ...
while Palin has been drawn and quartered for non-issues with 1/100 of the gravity.

CITIZENS ARE BOILING OVER WITH RAGE AT THE INJUSTICE DEMONSTRATED BY THE ELITE MEDIA MACHINE ACTING IN A TOTALITARIAN FASHION TO DICTATE THE OUTCOME OF OUR PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. THEY SHOULD BE CRIMINALLY LIABLE FOR PERPETUATING FRAUD...
