Secretary of State Jay Dardenne is taking a zero-tolerance approach to any sort of fraudulent voter registration or elections activities leading up to the November 4 presidential, congressional and local elections.

The registration deadline for this election was Monday, October 6, with no voter registration applications being accepted after this date, but the ones received prior to then will receive the utmost scrutiny in determining the eligibility of the applicants.

While we have not had any specific complaints about fraudulent activities during this election cycle, I am confident that the parish registrars of voters are strictly verifying new registrants as required by law," Secretary Dardenne said. "Our Elections Compliance Unit (ECU) has trained officers to respond to and investigate any irregularities that may arise during the time leading up to and including Election Day."

If anyone has specific complaints or irregularities to report about voter registration or alleged voter fraud, contact the ECU at the Secretary of State's Office or local law enforcement officials.
