I came to Texas as soon as I could
It's not how old you are, it's how you got here.
It's been a long road and not all of it was paved.

What a patient horse.. I thought at first it was a statue til the end and saw the horse's head move.

Rock, would your horses let your baby goats play on it like that?

Growing up with my own horses, having my senior high school pictures taken with my horses and during high school working for a small farm that boarded horses, I really like horses.

I stopped at a yard sale a couple years ago, the people were moving and selling their horse that was over 25 years old (I think he was 28 and very sweet) they had owned it the whole time. I just could not understand how they could get rid of it to just anyone. I had to leave quickly or it might be in my back yard right now. Our local shelter ends up with several horses and they pretty much give them away just due to the high cost of keeping them.

I know of a family that turned a $90 sheltered rescued horse into a championship barrel riding horse for their daughter.

Some of the conditions that I see people keeping their horses here in the desert upsets me. People with 1/4 acre lots will have three horses in the back yard, in make shift stalls. Others do a much better job and we are a "horse town" compete with an arena and rodeos. A lot of young people are into competitive riding and so are their parents. I stop out and watch them once in a while. Many that work in Vegas have moved out here so they can own horses, I've been out on my ATV in the desert and ran into groups of people riding. It's pretty awesome.
