  1. #1 Daytona Beach police: Dad walked in on man sexually battering son
    DAYTONA BEACH --
Daytona Beach police have arrested a man who they say was caught sexually battering a child under 12 years old by the victim's father.
According to police, Raymond Frolander, 18, is a family member of the victim, and was left in a position of custodial authority by the child's parents.

Officers responded to a call regarding the sexual battery of a juvenile just after 1 p.m. Friday.

When law enforcement arrived, they spoke with the victim's father, who told them he walked in and caught Frolander sexually battering his son.

The father told police he took physical action towards Frolander to prevent him from leaving the scene before police could arrive. Police observed Frolander laying on the living room floor with bruises on his face, and bleeding from his mouth.

I don't blame the father a bit. Who does that to a child, anyway? I think it's really sad that it had been going on for years and the child didn't want to tell.

I don't blame the father either. Abusers follow that same pattern, threaten a kid (or adult) with violence to either them or a family member if they tell.

That guy is lucky the dad didn't do something even worse to him. What sick behavior.

If that were my kid I'd be arrested for murder.

The dad's actions are perfectly understandable. Not guilty, IMO.

It will be interesting to see if the father ends up facing charges.

Sad about the child, very sad.

Right now, he's not facing charges because it's considered defense.

If it doesn't, he better ask for a jury trial. Not too many juries would convict him.

Only if the police responded before I had time to dispose of the body.
Remember, it was the father that called 911 in the first place.
I am afraid I would have taken lethal actions before placing that call.

No child deserves to be put through that trauma.
