    Doesn't reduce it's size or power but does bode better for the E Coast.

    First Hurricane I was in was named Bertha in the 90's I think. I was on Vaca
    in St. Thomas and it made a direct hit.

    It was a weak CAT 2. I was staying at Marriotts Frenchmans Reef which sits on a bluff over looking
    the harbor. The place is built like a fortress with it's own power and water
    so we never lost lights. I had a blast!!

    Damage to the island and hotel wasn't too bad and I left for PR the next day. FEMA
    was checking in as I was checking out.

    Sounds like a close call to something that could of been much worse!
