Jack-Ass Murtha has seen the error of his ways. His constituents are no longer racists. They're just rednecks now, but just a few years ago they were REALLY redneck. Of course he says there are a lot of people who won't vote for a black man, no matter what, but they aren't racist, just redneck, got it, wink, wink, nod, nod. Hey, they've sent him back 17 times. They deserve him.

Yup and he made matters worse with the redneck statement. Gee, I wonder what the reaction would be if a Republican made the same comment, but against blacks.

Here's the article: Rep. Murtha Clarifies 'Racist' Remark, Calls Western Pa. 'Redneck'

So the folks from Western PA went from this:

Russell's white. He's also a war vet and a damn better veteran then Murtha ever was. :D

Check the link I put to his website, Bill slams Murtha in his new Ad over the "racist" comments. It's sweet.

I can't find a real solid link for this but this guy says Russell is ahead?

John Murtha / Bill Russell Poll - 12th Congressional District of PA

John Murtha (D) is trying to hold off a challenge from Bill Russell (R) in the 12th Congressional District of PA. This is a seat that was once considered safe for the Democrats but is looking like it may be moving to a toss-up. There has been little polling done in the district since the challenge was not expected to have much of a chance. But Murtha's continuing to lose popularity in parts of the district and may be in danger of losing a seat he has held for over 30 years. PTT's polling currently shows this rate at a statistical dead heat with Bill Russell actually having a slight advantage, at 47.4% to Murtha's 44.3%. There are still a number of undecided voters and the difference is technically within the margin of error. This is very good news for Republicans trying to pick up a long-held Democratic seat.
This is bigger than presidential politics. This is a battle for America.

I grew up in central Pennsylvania, and older members of my family were from western Pennsylvania. I agree with you, LL.

Democratic consultant James Carville is quoted as saying, "Pennsylvania is Philadelphia and Pittsburgh with Alabama in between."

I remember that phrase; "two big cities with Alabama in the middle" and it's true. My husband is from the western big city, and I'm from the eastern big city. When we hear a reference to a town neither of us recognizes, we say, "That must be in the Alabama part of Pennsylvania."

LL, did you really reference The Enraged Cajun? I can't stand James Carville!

I'm really becoming perturbed over how people are smashing my home state this year with the racist b.s.

Unless this is simply a preemptive excuse for why Whobama loses the state. In which case, Duh. All Republicans are racist. ( So current Socialist propaganda runs) It's why they kept slaves in the Civil War and why Jesse Jackson didn't win the Presidency in 1980.

Sheesh. It's like they're not even trying anymore. I wish they would come up with something new. I bet a lot of fat people aren't going to vote for Godbama because he's skinny. I think Weightists and Weightism is a huge unrecognized problem in America. "Don't be Weightist, vote Obama"

    I can see it already.
When McCain wins PA and NJ and the election , I wonder how the MSM is going to spin it. Probably, all those racist in the South voted for McCain. However, their chops will be closed on those lillywhite burbs in the northeast that go for McCain. Boston, MA comes to mind.
