Brunner Pulled Into Another Fight Over Voter Registartion

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A writ of mandamus was filed with the Ohio Supreme Court late Friday afternoon, seeking to compel Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner to match new voter registrations with information from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

The action, filed by David Myhal, is significant following Friday's U.S. Supreme Court opinion. In the opinion, the justices overturned a federal appeals court ruling that ordered Brunner to help counties verify voter eligibility. Their reasoning was that the Ohio GOP was a private entity and could not bring such action. Conversely Myhal, of New Albany, is a registered voter in Franklin County.
