The video that will make your skin crawl: Man develops maggot infestation in his EAR after housefly lays eggs while he is asleep

    • Doctor had to remove wriggling white maggots individually with tweezers
    • Fly laid eggs in the man's ear as he slept; they then hatched into maggots
    • Hundreds of maggots lived in his ear canal, feeding off his flesh
    • If left untreated they could have burrowed into his brain and killed him
    • Condition, called aural myasis, is common in the tropics and subtropics
    • Treatment involves suffocating maggots using drugs and manual removal

That looks like the problem we used to have with 'blow flies'. They radiated either the males are the females to make them sterile and they don't exist around here any more. Their maggots ate live flesh from cuts and scratches on livestock. I guess they could get into humans too.

Maggots that live in liberals ears have to be subsidized by the government, these are food deserts.

There are still places around the world where maggots are used to remove necrotic tissue.

And it works like a charm.
It's not how old you are, it's how you got here.
It's been a long road and not all of it was paved.

Here's a short article about the screw worm maggots/flies I mentioned earlier. These were a problem when I was a kid. We're still spending taxpayers money fighting them south of the border.

Did you ever see "Gorky Park"? In that movie, the Moscow cops have to solve a triple murder in which the victims faces were skinned off and their fingertips cut off. The cops bring the head to a museum for facial reconstruction-the "head guy" (played by the same guy who plays Palpatine in Star Wars) uses maggots to get all the old flesh off the skull. There's a shot of the maggots on one of the skulls. It's disgusting. A great movie, though, not just a murder mystery but a look at the corruption of the USSR.

Anyone else remember the Laurence Harvey story on "Night Gallery"? :)
