Top of the 4th right now, and Cubs leading 3 - 0.

This could be the year they make it to the World Series. They only need to win tonight to make it.

It's not how old you are, it's how you got here.

Clearly, I wasn't alive the last time the Cubs were in the World Series(1945), but neither were my parents.

Last March I had friends visiting Las Vegas from the Quad Cities. They put a couple small bets down that the Cubs would go to the World Series. I should of done the same.

One of my friends was from CO, so he also bet the long shot that the Rockies would make it...if he would of won a ten dollar bet would of been worth $1500.

    Damn! Well, good for them!

Think about this. The last time they won the World Series was 1908. More then 108 years ago. Kinda like Halley's Comet, a once in a lifetime event.

Chicago is still celebrating hard today. And ticket prices to a game for the World Series at Wriggly are topping Super Bowl prices. Some reports being upwards of $1500. a seat.

My first house in Chicago was 1 1/2 miles west of Wrigley, just south of Addison. 2nd house was a touch further away, but only about 4 miles away. Attended probably 50-70 games at Wrigley, never once paid for parking.

The Cubs aren't even my favorite team, but I'm a rather enthusiastic baseball fan period. Hard to pass up that atmosphere, even when they were bad on the field. The former Mrs. & I even attended a couple of playoff games in 1998. Paid face value for the 1 game playoff to be the Wild Card ($17/each) and saw them get swept by the Braves when we bought scalped tickets for $45/each.

I'd suspect the prices are a lot more this go around. And yes, the neighborhood was crazy then pre & post game. Looked nuts there last night.
