Since falling off the bandwagon, at times the Oakland Raiders found themselves to be considered to be the laughing stock of the NFL. It was challenging to stand by a team that was constantly unable to find a comfortable charisma between the players, as well as the coaches. When things seemed to pick up after the 2014 season, Raiders fans were elated. But even though Derek Carr broke his leg, and the future of the playoff dreams for the Raiders is now uncertain, here is a hats-off to a killer season, and turnaround. I already can't wait for the 2017 NFL season.

It was nice to see them beating the stuffing out of the Broncos.

Michigan State QB's fare pretty-good in the NFL, so if they go with Connor Cook the shakiness-factor shouldn't be very high.

I didn't see that Cook was starting as backup QB for Carr. You never know, the Raiders could luck out like the Patriots did after Drew Bledsoe got injured.

Not going to lie, I was definitely disappointed by the lackluster performance by Cook. Compounded by the injury of Penn, and a few bolognese calls by the refs, Houston got away with a very easy W. I'm praying to God they fire that sack of crap in the off-season.

    @Red

I've been a Raider fan most of my life. I'm 70 now

I remember rooting for the Raiders when Tom Flores was their quarterback and George Blanda was the Oilers quarterback

I was almost literally thrown out of my college dorm for rooting for the Raiders in Super Bowl 2.

I was at Shea Stadium when they lost to the Jets, who then went on to win Super Bowl 3.

They lost to Kansas City who went on to win Super Bowl 4

In 1970 they lost the AFC Championship to the Colts

In 1972 they lost the AFC championship to Pittsburg

In 1973 they lost the AFC championship to Miami

In 1974 they lost the AFC championship to Pittsburg

In 1975 they lost the AFC championship to Pittsburg

In 1976 the won the Super Bowl

In 1977 the lost the AFC championship to the Broncos

In 1978 and 1979 they didn't make the playoffs

In 1980 they won the Super Bowl.

They were in contention to go to the Super Bowl almost ten times between and including Super Bowl 1 thru Super Bowl 15. Can you imagine if they had gone that many times an dwon even a third of the Super Bowls. !

Give Cook another year before giving up on him. Give Reggie another two or three years and they will be back in the Super Bowl. I hope I'm around to see it.

I personally think it stinks that they will move to Vegas.

    Go Raiders !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You excluded Darryl Lamonica, whom Flores backed-up.

You didn't mention the old TV-contract with NBC's exclusive covering of the AFL in the less-glamorous 4PM (1PM Pacific) slot, in which the Raiders-Chiefs rivalry ballooned the league's ratings... 3-years before the Superbowl.

I saw the original incident, but I can't remember what happened at the moment. It quickly became a Hank Stramm vs. John Madden rivalry. Curt Gowdy's and Charlie Jones' broadcasting-careers skyrocketed. Al DeRogatis remained comfortably obscure.

We even started hearing about the owners, in cultural football lingo... the Hunt Brothers, Al Davis... No telecast ever talked about the in's and out's of team-owners before.

And America could never quite figure the Raiders' logo out. It didn't hint strongly at Viking surf-raiders, or pirates. Only Davis knew for sure. But it and Raider-fans redefined what being a team-loyal football-fan meant.

Ironic that Blanda changed football-betting by causing half-point spreads to be instituted. He, more than any single player, cost Vegas billions, in those infuriating last-second field-goal strategies.

I don't know if Al Jr. will tweak the team's motto or not.

It will be interesting to see what happens. Looks like the Raiders might play in the UNLV stadium until their stadium is built.
