The Arrogance of European Leaders

Ireland has rejected the EU Treaty. Here is the attitude of the European leaders to the result.

French Europe Minister Jean-Pierre Jouyet says: "I don't think you can say the treaty of Lisbon is dead even if the ratification process will be delayed."

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier says: "We are sticking with our goal for it to come into force. The ratification process must continue."

Spanish Europe Minister Lopez Garrido says: "The treaty will be applied, albeit a few months late."

European Commission President Jose Barroso says: "The Treaty is not dead. The Treaty is alive, and we will try to work to find a solution."

British Foreign Minister David Miliband says: "18 countries have now passed the reform treaty...each country must see the ratification process to a conclusion... there needs to be a British view as well as an Irish view."

This is despite the fact the European Union's own rules state that so much as one European country saying no will spell the end of the Treaty. But they are so determined to ram it through, they will ignore the people.

Remember this next time the EU tries to lecture America on any issue.

They ,Europe's new rulers, are desperate to have this thing' put to bed' !They had the same problem last vote when France and some other country rejected the EU ratification and they also tried an 'end run' around that one.

They will never let this thing come up for an all country vote because they know they would lose.The UK is about to backout if they try a power play and try and force Ireland to play ball !
