Wendy's has not been the same since Dave died. Except for the frosties, I still get one of those once in a while. But their burgers just aren't as good.

There's no link to government-mandated large minimum wage increases. Random large-scale job losses. Nothing to see here, move on.
More seriously, if, a few years hence, governments recognize the destructiveness of their mandates and reverse them, this large investment in equipment will still be in place. Mom-and-Pops that can't afford such equipment might start coming back, but the large-scale employers like W, M, and BK aren't going to move the equipment out to their parking lots and hire people again. A lot of those jobs will be lost for the foreseeable future.I support UNexit: Get the US out of the UN; Get the UN out of the US!

The closest Wendy's to me now is about 40 miles away in Las Vegas. When I'm in Vegas there are just so many great choices for food, I drive right past Wendy's.
Most customers have a hard enough time ordering when a live person is taking their order, I can't imagine how well the kiosks will work or how many people will accidently order the wrong thing creating even more confusion.
02-27-2017, 11:18 AM"Last year was tough — 5 percent wage inflation," said Bob Wright, Wendy's chief operating officer, during his presentation to investors and analysts last week. He added that the company expects wages to rise 4 percent in 2017. "But the real question is what are we doing about it?"
Wright noted that over the past two years, Wendy's has figured out how to eliminate 31 hours of labor per week from its restaurants and is now working to use technology, such as kiosks, to increase efficiency.
Kiosks could ease lines and boost kitchen output during peak lunch and dinner times, Tristano said.
The other benefit is higher order accuracy. And as Bob Welcher, president of Restaurant Consultants Inc., said of kiosks last year: "They always are courteous. They always show up for work on time."
Kiosks are just the first step in changes that customers will see in restaurants. Trimm and Tristano said that mobile ordering and payment, via smartphones, eventually will overtake kiosks and cash registers. One reason: they provide data. Wendy's wants to know more about its customers to better tailor offers and understand trends.
But until then, kiosks are the hot thing.
"This move puts them at the forefront of the kiosk and tech movement," Tristano said.
One of the reasons Wendy's is a step ahead of most of its fast-food brethren is because the technology is being developed in-house. Its new 90 Degrees lab on North High Street in the University District is staffed with developers and other technology-focused employees. The lab sports a full mock-up of a restaurant front end where developers can test and tweak ideas on the fly.

I had a great aunt that loved their chili. Once she could no longer drive I would often drop her off some.
My dad's brother and his wife (my aunt & uncle) had lots of money (she still does) and were really tight. They liked going to Wendy's for AYCE chili once a week, it was like $1.99 at the time. In fact at one time they offered chili for 99 cents...as I remember them bragging about that. LOL
My uncle ended up in a wheel chair after a couple stokes, there was a Wendy's close to their house and it got my uncle out of the house during his final years.

You can get AYCE garden and soup bar for $5.99. It includes four types of soup, four types of bread or rolls & desert if you want it.
I eat there about once a week. The above also comes with their nightly AYCE meal specials. Tuesdays is chicken fajitas. Entire meal before tax $6.99 plus your drink. Not a bad dinner.
