1 In 6 Teen Girls Say Theyve Experienced Harassment Since Election Day

A new report examines the sexual violence young women face in the U.S.

These statistics take on new weight given that the president of the United States is an accused sexual predator.

According to the survey, more than 1 in 6 teenage girls (or 17 percent) reported that they had experienced harassment since the 2016 presidential election.

Many advocates worried that there would be an uptick in violence against women when President Donald Trump took office. Directly after the election, many incidences of sexism and harassment happened, along with an increase in hate crimes.

President Trump has been accused of sexually assaulting more than a dozen women, and has publicly defended other men who have been accused of sexual harassment and assault, like Roger Ailes and the recently-ousted Bill O’Reilly.

“My concern is based on not just what behavior has been, because he is an individual, but what he can do to influence other men’s behaviors and other women’s perceptions of their value,” Rita Smith, the former executive director of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, told The Huffington Post in November. “Even just the election itself had an impact on how men treated and talked about women.”

How sick is this, the country elected a sexual predator to the highest office. A man accused of assaulting more than a dozen women, caught on tape no less, bragging about it. He publically has defended both Ailes and O'Reilly. He defends their assaults and has enabled men and boys to believe they can take what they want when the want it. The violence against women has escalated and will continue to do so under this pathetic excuse for a man. Women are no longer safe at school, walking the dog, jogging and they are no longer safe in their very own homes.
This throws up red flags all over the place. They're claiming that there's an INCREASE in sexual assault and harrassment since Trump became President. The HuffPo article says
1 In 6 Teen Girls Say Theyve Experienced Harassment Since Election Day

First of all it's "harassment" not sexual assault or sexual harassment - anything they consider "harassment".

But go to the actual study and you'll read this:

    https://nwlc.org/wp-content/uploads/...eyFindings.pdf

To better understand what healthy and safe schools look like for all girls, the National Women’s Law Center collaborated with Lake Research Partners to conduct a study of girls from January 5-19, 2017. The study included an online survey of 1,003 girls ages 14-18 nationwide.
So the study was done BEFORE Trump was inaugurated. There was no mention of "since the election" or of Trump in the study. It's a study of girls from minority groups, both racial and sexual orientation with resulting recommendations to help them stay in school.

It looks like an interesting study though I question the methodology - 1003 ON LINE SURVEYS? Who fills them out? a representative sample of each group or kids who have had problems? And then the samples are 'weighted' which doesn't help if you aren't getting a representative sample of kids who are well adjusted and haven't had the kinds of problems that come with poverty, single parenting, trauma, homelessness, etc. as well as those who have.

It's a study of girls from minority groups, both racial and sexual orientation ...
So the study was ONLY those minorities?

Does the study differentiate between "harassment" by boys and "harassment" by girls? Or does it lump them all together. And for the lesbians, was any of the "harassment" by other lesbian girls?
