Lego will cut 1,400 jobs as part of a broad overhaul of its strategy after a decade of rapid growth.

The job cuts, which account for roughly 8% of the toymaker's workforce, were announced alongside a drop in profit and sales for the first six months of 2017.

The Danish company hasn't suffered an annual revenue decline in 13 years.

I don't see how their sales are slumping when every week they come out with some new kit my grandson just has to have.

And grandpa can't avoid getting it for him.

    Legos were OK ...

But I agree with you. Construction Sets were fun even for me when playing with our son when he was young.

I loved Legos when I was a kid, almost as much as I loved my Barbies and my doll house. I still have them, too.

They will probably rebound next year. Hopefully, they will have a good Christmas season.

    Parents have learned:

More seriously, there are only so many families in the world that can afford to buy their kids Legos, and kids can only play with so many toys.

"I think we should fight the terrorists with Legos ... they're not wearing shoes anyway."
