Category 1 Hurricane Katia making landfall

The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Katia's maximum sustained winds have dropped to 75 mph as it hits land north of Tecolutla, in Veracruz state, while Mexico's emergency workers are scrambling to respond to Thursday's 8.1-magnitude earthquake on the Pacific side.

Unbelievable woes. I heard someone on today---it's become a blur of blah, blah, blah on the screen--said that there's a 20 year cycle of hurricanes. It's been quiet lately, at least in Florida.

Glad that Katia is "only" a category one. An earthquake, possible tsunami, and hurricane within a day is a bitter pill to swallow.
