I came to Texas as soon as I could
A stunning 64.5 inches of rain fell during Hurricane Harvey in Nederland, a town near Beaumont, during the storm's five-day onslaught, shattering the record that stood for more than six decades, the National Weather Service announced Wednesday.

It is the heaviest rainfall total ever logged in the U.S. during a tropical storm, easily breaking Hawaii's 1950 record of 52 inches.

"It's still surreal to comprehend 64 inches of rain," Nederland City Manager Chris Duque said Wednesday. "We did not know the flooding would be - for lack of a better phrase - biblical, but that's what our area faced."

It took Nederland only five days in August to log more rain than what most U.S. cities average in a year.

It's more than New Orleans' average of 62.2 inches, Miami Beach's 51.7 inches, Houston's 49.7 inches and Seattle's 37.4 inches.
It's not how old you are, it's how you got here.
It's been a long road and not all of it was paved.
. If you ain't havin' fun, it's your own damn fault
