Jimmy Kimmel was in tears at the start of his monologue Monday night as he addressed the ďterrible, inexplicable, shocking and painful tragedyĒ in Las Vegas, also his hometown. The ABC late-night host was still trying to process the events of Sunday night, when a gunman killed 59 people and injured more than 500, the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

Saw part of it while cleaning up the kitchen last night. Quickly devolved into typical "we don't need fully automatic weapons to hunt, we need better laws, how can we let this keep happening blah blah blah tuned out". Last I saw, we still don't know if the shooters weapons were legal or not, so there's no clue as to whether or not any laws would have made a difference. Last I saw we have no idea about motive, if he just randomly snapped, what laws would have changed the event? How about putting efforts into the mental health structure of the country instead of working to deny us the ability to defend ourselves against crazies, against criminals, and when needed, against our out of control government (and yes it's hard to separate those three groups sometimes). And no, I don't want a federal mental health system, the state ones didn't do that great, especially as they moved down the priority list and have been defunded and closed. But I'll wager as time goes on, mental health will show up as a factor in this tragedy.

The left is politicizing this to their typical full extent, when I just want a city that is pretty close to my heart to heal.

I had friends at that concert with their loved ones.

Let's be honest for a second. We all know the
Left wants to take ALL our guns away. Period.

They bleat we need "stronger gun laws".
And how exactly would "stronger gun laws" and
more "background checks" have stopped the
monster in Vegas?? He was a rich old dude
that had no record and was retired.
May the FORCE be with you!

A less than mental giant is kimmel........... or just another socialist who still cries about not having healthcare when he can afford any doctor, specialist or surgeon in America or abroad. The true definition of a socialist communist mentality. Of course the idiot don't want you own a gun, he's another one who never served or did anything for America to help keep her free and safe. Not likely to do anything in the future but perhaps aid the enemy.

The mental health system may be in need of big changes. However, to provide mental health care the individual has to realize that themselves and seek help or has come up on the radar as needing appropriate help.

So far if haven't seen any reports about the shooter that speak to incidents with police, women, other citizens etc. that would put him on someone's radar.

Please remember that the mental health/social services systems are run by bleeding hearts. They take any client's word for granted over any layman's observations. They also push for "group homes" in the community and at some point releasing the individual into the community. Naturally, the individual will always be sure to take their
medication and never drink or do other drugs.

I agree on all points. As of this writing, I haven't seen anything about red flags this guy was flying that a better mental health system would have caught, for help to work, the person has to want help, there are too many snowflakes in our current assistant systems who run on emotion, wanting to make sure patients feel better instead of confronting the patients with the brutal truth. I don't want the feds running it, all it would take would be another Obama and everyone signed up here would be shut in a rubber room. Most states didn't do much better to my knowledge, and we know the giant gaps our for profit physical medicine industry has.

I want conservatives to stop playing defense when these things happen and find realistic, Constitutional solutions to counter the liberal spew. Even if this case continues to show itself as a happens event, we (and our elected representatives) shouldn't be cowering in our bunkers waiting for the libs to be distracted by something else shiny. We need to have our (illustrative) guns ready and firing. We need conservative social workers, shrinks, and managers of those worker who can put together the solutions I can't.

Ok, I feel a little better now
