OK, here is a not nice question...but.

Do any of you think that soon enough the suicide rate is going to rise significantly due to what is going on with our country? I mean are there going to be people who think it will be better to die than live the horror of this dictator and his administration?
So the snowflakes are going to kill themselves if they don't get their socialist Marxist dreams enacted, are they?

    2. I've never thought about that, but I am glad I have no children

The rate things are going, it would be nothing but horror for them, given the 'choice' between 'working' for a DeVos coal mine, plucked up by some Peter Thiel organ harvesting/human experimentation ring to restore the youth of rich people, and being shot at in school... "but at least it's by a white person and not a Muslim, so these things happen, what can you do, right?"
Delusions and paranoia are quite rampant on DU.

    8. This is the 3rd thread I've posted this

but it is pertinent to your post, I believe. The stress of the latest mass murder, the NK nuke threat and non-stop shit storm in the news all day every day, my 12 year old child feels he needs to keep his cell phone in his pencil case, against school rules, because he worries when something goes down, he won't be able to reach his mom. He's not the only kiddo at his school who is doing this same thing. My son asked his SS teacher what the school protocol is for connecting kids with their parents should a nuke land on US soil and she told him that "that will never happen". Most kids are too smart for that crap.
Liberals have been quite out there... terrifying their kids....and then blaming conservatives.

    3. It has definitely crossed my mind

But I wouldn't actually take that step. However, the depression is real, the anger is real, the frustration is real, the hopelessness is real.

    4. It wouldn't surprise me. I don't think this country has felt the full impact of this administration

yet, and may not for a few years. But if the republicans have their way, more and more people are going to feel trapped, hopeless and destitute and may see no other way out. They want to pretty much eliminate every safety net we have and there are going to be a lot of people who will find they have reached the end of their rope.
In other words, if liberals don't get their way they will throw temper tantrums, create fake scandal and do everything to take out the fairly elected Republican President, and when that doesn't work out and 'depression' and 'hopelessness' set in...........they will kill themselves and self righteously blame Republicans and NOT their immature and narcissistic attitudes and beliefs.

    6. Take a walk around town...

Are people shopping? Hanging out in the park? Eating at restaurants?

The average person is not as politically fixated as people are here. Doesn't mean they don't like Trump, but it's not on the top of issues they're thinking about. Life goes on.

They have no life other than what they can think up. What would these idiots do if they had to handle real stress and not the fiction.

And to their horror had to come face to face with what real life is all about ...

And there weren't enough of their sacred "safe spaces" in which to hide?

    Poor babies!

A snarky response comes easily to mid, but I'll just laugh a little at Doreen's foolish stupidity. Conservatives didn't go hang themselves from the rafters of their barns or leap from tall buildings in 2009 or 2013, and I don't think Libs & Progs are snowflakey enough to slit their wrists or whatever.

I'm from DeVos' hometown and where I think she is unqualified for the position Trump put her in, I also am reasonably sure that AMWAY (her husband's company) doesn't own any coal mines. Coal is not really a Michigan product. There still might be a little copper left in the UP, and the Grand Rapids area has gypsum mines, but not coal. And her brother runs Blackwater, I don't think they are in the coal business, either.

The good thing is that they're talking about how glad they are that they didn't have kids. So am I. Imagine the poor kids living with such delusional parents. It's like they can't look in the mirror and see the source of all the hate being spewed out. I know someone whose face gets distorted with hate if even the word Trump is spoken. It's not pretty to see.

Having seen so much weird nonsense from DU - and how they often react when someone tries to introduce facts into discussions of the nonsense - I'm dubious of DU-folks' capacity and desire to discern facts from nonsense.
