Attorney General Jeff Sessions is scheduled to testify before the House Judiciary Committee next Tuesday as part of its probe into Russian interference in the presidential election, The Hill confirmed on Tuesday.

Sessions's appearance will allow Democrats on the panel to pepper the Justice Department chief about his past statements concerning exchanges with Russian officials during the time he served the Trump campaign last year.

Democrats are particularly interested in his ties to former Trump campaign staffer George Papadopoulos, who pleaded guilty to lying to FBI agents about contacts with Russians. Court documents revealed that Papadopoulos had offered to set up a meeting between Moscow and then-candidate Donald Trump

After Jim Jordan (OH-4) rattled off a long list of evidence on Clinton, the Clinton Crime Family Foundation, Uranium 1, laundering money to buy the Trump dossier and asking what it would take to get a special counsel appointed, Sessions said that it would require "a factual basis" and "the proper standards" to put the matter before a special counsel.

I wish Jordan would have asked at that point what were the "a factual basis" and "the proper standards" to initiate the Mueller witch hunt.

I keep trying to figure out the motivations of Jeff, maybe:

    1. He is still smarting from his 1976 Senate rejection as a Federal District Court judge and is trying to avoid media criticism as much as possible. If he appoints a special counsel to investigate the Clintons the media will crucify him and rub salt in all of his old wounds.

    2. The Clinton's have blackmail information on him.

Observation: He always looks like a deer in the headlights.
