    What backs bitcoin, gold, property of some sort?

    Ripple/XRP for instance lets banks move money arond
    at much faster speed and lower cost per transaction.

    Ripple is the tech and XRP is the coin. You need both
    to do the work. As Ripple is more widely accepted by
    banks the demand for the coin goes up as should the
    value/price.

    And a lot of these new crypto coins are just scams.

    John Pfeffer, a partner at his London-based family office Pfeffer Capital, is not only betting on Bitcoin, but giving it a bold price target of $700,000—about 75 times the current Bitcoin price of nearly $9,500.

    While Pfeffer did not put a time frame on his prediction, his target exceeds even optimistic forecasts from other influential investors such as venture capitalist Tim Draper, who earlier this month predicted the Bitcoin price would reach $250,000 by 2022.

    Federal reserve and our banking system and the word of our government. I can pay all my bills, buy equipment ,Gold any physical object I desire with at least some guarantee of it's value at least for a temporary period.

    was 8800ish, it's 9220 right now...

    Crypto is new territory so anything is possible.
